Ben Warn

Fast-growing iGaming business Checkd Group has appointed “vastly experienced” content and sports betting industry expert Ben Warn as its new non-executive chairman, overseeing UK operations.

Mr Warn, who first joined Checkd Group three years ago as an advisor to the management team, steps up at a crucial time in the company’s growth journey.

Checkd Group is in the middle of an expansion in product development and media services domestically and recently entered the market in the United States through the launch of sports betting website FlashPicks.

Mr Warn was previously Managing Director of Perform’s Portals and Consumer division for seven years and has held leading roles in the sports betting industry at Rank Group, Blue Square and Sky Betting & Gaming.

He is credited with the creation of the ever-popular free-to-play Soccer Saturday Super 6 game at the latter company, also delivering the industry’s earliest bet and watch streaming service and taking to market the UK’s first online bingo platform for Mecca Bingo.

Mr Warn is the latest in a number of new appointments at Checkd Group as the company looks to build on recent successes including the FlashPicks launch and renewed operator partnerships with several tier one bookmakers.

Jamie Knowlson, CEO at Checkd Group, said: “This is a very important period for the business as we continue to grow at pace and it’s fantastic to have a figure as widely respected in the industry as Ben Warn to lead our push within the UK.

“Ben’s achievements in the sports betting industry speak for themselves and his leadership has already proven to be invaluable in the two years he has spent with Checkd Group.

“We believe he will have a major impact in this new role as we continue to make major inroads through the creation of products and services that resonate with our audience.”

The new appointee commented: “I have already seen first-hand how Checkd Group serves its loyal and large sports betting community with content and products that perfectly meet its needs.

“In this new role, I look forward to accelerating the company’s growth in the UK by overseeing the delivery and scope of an offering that in conjunction with our partners will continue to have a major impact on the sports betting industry.”
