SkillOnNet has secured a gambling licence from Finland’s National Police Board, allowing the Malta-based iGaming group to prepare to enter the country’s regulated online gambling market when it opens on 1st July 2027.

The company announced that its application had been approved, placing it among the first 12 operators licensed under Finland’s new Gambling Act. The National Police Board had received 79 applications by 26th October, with none rejected and 67 still being processed.

Finland’s Gambling Act, passed by parliament on 16th December 2025, ends state-owned Veikkaus’ exclusive online gambling rights for casino games, sports betting and online bingo.

From 1st July 2027, privately licensed operators will be permitted to offer these products to Finnish players. Veikkaus will retain exclusive rights over lotteries, scratch cards and land-based casino games.

The National Police Board will remain responsible for licensing until the end of June 2027, when the Finnish Supervisory Agency will take over licensing and supervision.

SkillOnNet operates more than 40 branded casino sites across regulated markets worldwide. Its portfolio includes PlayOJO, DrückGlück, BacanaPlay and Genting Casino.

The company currently holds licences in the UK, Sweden, Spain, Germany, Canada and Mexico. Its Finnish licence extends its presence into another regulated market and expands its Nordic operations beyond Sweden.

SkillOnNet also provides white-label solutions alongside its consumer-facing brands. Its gaming portfolio includes slots, live casino, sports betting and instant-win content.

Maor Nutkevitch, Head of Corporate Development at SkillOnNet, said that “Finland represents a significant opportunity, with a strong digital culture and a clear commitment to creating a safe, competitive, and sustainable online gaming environment. We look forward to bringing our experience and gaming products to Finnish customers when the market opens next July.”
