London UKGC

After the departure of previous chief executive Neil McArthur in March, Andrew Rhodes will take the reigns of the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) for 18 months, filling in until the organisation finds a permanent replacement.

Mr Rhodes has over 20 years experience working within the realms of the public and private domain and has joined the UKGC from Swansea University as COO and Registrar.

Rhodes announced that “the Gambling Commission is one of the world’s highest profile and most respected regulators so I am delighted to join the team at such an important time.”

“Protecting the public and players from gambling harm will continue to be central to our work and I am looking forward to meeting people from across the industry and those with lived experience to understand the issues and opportunities which lay ahead.”

Chairman of the Gambling Commission Bill Moyes commented that “Andrew has a first-class track record of delivery, strong leadership and innovation both in the private sector and in the civil service.”

Mr Rhodes previously worked at the Department for Work and Pensions and the Food Standards Agency.
