IZIGROUP has surpassed €1 billion in annual turnover for the first time, as the group behind the National Lottery Malta and the Dragonara Casino reported significant growth across its key financial metrics for the year ended 30th June 2026.
IZI Finance plc reported turnover of €1.172 billion for FY2026, an increase of 27.4 per cent over the previous financial year, while player winnings rose by 28.4 per cent to €1.060 billion.
Gross Gaming Revenue (GGR) reached €110.9 million, up 18.3 per cent, while EBITDA increased by 29.1 per cent to €37.3 million.
The group also recorded a sharp increase in profitability, with operating profit climbing 63.8 per cent to €19.4 million. Profit before tax reached €14.4 million, approximately double the level recorded in FY2025.
The improved performance was principally driven by growth at National Lottery plc, complemented by continued strong performance across IZIGROUP's casino and interactive gaming operations.
The Group operates the National Lottery concession in Malta as well as Dragonara Casino and a growing portfolio of interactive gaming products.
Its EBITDA margin on GGR improved from 30.8 per cent in the previous year to 33.7 per cent in FY2026, reflecting improved profitability and stronger operational performance.
IZI Group also generated €39.7 million in net cash from operating activities during the year, representing an increase of around 40 per cent. Cash and cash equivalents stood at €44.3 million at the end of June, while the group reported a working capital surplus of €24.3 million.
The company said its direct contribution to Malta’s economy and social causes amounted to €41.8 million during the financial year.
This included concession fees and gaming taxes paid to the Government, as well as contributions to the Social Causes Fund, Responsible Gaming Foundation and sponsorships. The total represented 37.7 per cent of the group’s GGR for the year.
During FY2026, IZI Finance also completed the issuance of €30 million in 5.5 per cent unsecured bonds due in 2036. The company said the issue strengthened the group’s capital and liquidity position while providing further flexibility for its investment programme and future growth.
Commenting on the results, IZIGROUP Founder and Group CEO Johann Schembri described FY2026 as another important milestone in the company’s growth.
“For the first time, we have surpassed €1 billion in both turnover and player winnings, while delivering significant growth in GGR, EBITDA, profitability and operating cash generation,” he said.
Mr Schembri said the results had exceeded the group’s targets, attributing the performance to the strength of its core businesses and investments in people, technology, products and distribution capabilities.
Looking ahead, IZIGROUP plans to continue strengthening its Malta operations through product innovation, optimisation and expansion of its distribution network, further development of its digital offering and a continued focus on operational efficiency.
The group also intends to progressively pursue targeted international opportunities in markets with high barriers to entry.
