Multi-national lottery operator Allwyn has named Kresimir Spajic as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Allwyn Digital, expanding the company into online and interactive gaming.

From 1st September, Mr Spajic will officially lead Allwyn Digital, guiding the expansion of the firm’s digital offerings, including iGaming, sports betting and auxiliary products, from the company’s headquarters in Lucerne, Switzerland.

In this newly minted role, he will report directly to Allwyn’s Group CEO, Robert Chvatal.

The group is currently in the process of acquiring a 51 per cent majority stake in MT Holding Limited, the parent company of online sports betting and gaming operator Novibet, which maintains a hub in Malta. The transaction is expected to be finalised in the second half of this year.

Bringing over two decades of insight from the online gaming sector, Mr Spajic has previously held roles such as SVP & Managing Director of Hard Rock International’s digital gaming and sports betting arm.

He also led as President of iGaming at Great Canadian Entertainment while serving as an advisor to Apollo Global Management. His last role was as CEO of Betfred USA.

“Allwyn has a bold ambition of transforming the way players engage with lotteries, gaming and casual entertainment,” Mr Spajic expressed.

He continued: “Allwyn Digital is the natural next step in that journey – to be more seamlessly connected, digitally integrated and innovative – and I look forward to working with all the team to deliver for players and for the business.”

Allwyn leads several markets across Europe in Austria, Czech Republic, Greece and Cyprus, Italy, United Kingdom, and United States (Illinois).
