Malta-based Wildz Group has announced that Finland’s National Police Board issued the company a formal letter granting permission to offer gambling services to Finnish players for five years from 1st July 2027.

The operator said it was the first iGaming operator to receive this clearance. The announcement was made ahead of the National Police Board publishing a formal list of approved operators.

The National Police Board has not yet published decisions on individual applications, and the announcement is based on information disclosed by Wildz Group.

Finland’s gambling market to open in July 2027

Finland’s licensed online gambling market is scheduled to open on 1st July 2027 following the passage of the new Gambling Act in January 2026.

The National Police Board began accepting licence applications on 1st March 2026 and will serve as the licensing authority until the end of June 2027. The Finnish Supervisory Agency is scheduled to assume that responsibility thereafter.

By September 2026, the National Police Board had received 75 licence applications, up from 50 in June.

Wildz Group’s brand portfolio

Wildz Group’s portfolio includes the Wildz, Caxino, Wheelz, Spinz, Chipz, Tuplaus and Blingi casino brands, as well as the Wildz Sports sportsbook.

The Malta-based group was founded by Finnish iGaming executives and holds licences from the Malta Gaming Authority. It also operates in Germany.

Sam Brown has served as the group’s chief executive officer since 2023. The company has traded under the Wildz Group name since mid-2025, having previously operated under the Rootz platform name.

Commenting on the Finnish approval, CEO of Wildz Group Sam Brown said that “receiving the amazing news of being the first operator to receive a licence in Finland is a welcome reward for all the efforts of the team in the application process. We’re excited about this milestone and what it represents for the future of Wildz Group. We believe that our brands will offer players in Finland a safe and engaging entertainment product for many years to come. We’re looking forward to July 2027.”
