The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) has cancelled the B2C licence of BTM Entertainment Group Limited with effect of 22nd March 2024.

“This is being done in accordance with regulation 10 (1) (a) and by application of regulations 9 (1) (c), (d), (f), (l) and (m) of the Gaming Compliance and Enforcement Regulations (S.L. 583.06),” it said in a statement, citing national regulations which empower the regulator to cancel a licence in certain instances.

The instances referred to in this case include a failure to comply with one or more obligations in terms of BTM’s licence, failure to pay amounts owed to the regulator for its operations, the licensee is bankrupt, payments owed to the regulator not effected in a timely manner and lastly, that the authority, “in its sole discretion, has determined that there is material and sufficient reason for suspending the authorisation”.

The MGA is now calling on BTM to settle all outstanding fees within seven days from the date of cancellation, on 29th March 2024.

The decision is subject to appeal.
