The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) has introduced a new online Self-Assessment Tool aimed at helping players evaluate their gambling habits and identify potential risks.
Developed with input from Caritas Malta, Aġenzija Sedqa, the OASI Foundation and the Responsible Gaming Foundation, the tool is available in English and Maltese and can be accessed anonymously and free of charge through the MGA’s website.
Based on the Problem Gambling Severity Index, the questionnaire features nine questions designed to measure gambling behaviour and its possible impact on everyday life.
Depending on the results, users are guided toward relevant support services or resources, including local organisations that provide professional advice and care.
The initiative strengthens the MGA’s player protection framework and supports its ongoing focus on early intervention and responsible gambling. It complements existing measures such as self-exclusion systems, player monitoring requirements for licensees and public awareness initiatives launched during Safer Gambling Week.
According to the authority, the tool is intended to encourage self-reflection and help players track changes in their gambling behaviour over time.
The Self-Assessment Tool is now live on the MGA’s official website.
