Malta has welcomed countless hospitality concepts over the years, but this summer sees the arrival of something entirely different. Noma Island, a 1,750-square-metre floating lifestyle destination anchored in the crystal-clear waters near Comino.

Positioned just minutes from shore, Noma Island is the only venue of its kind in Europe, combining a beach club, restaurant, sunset experience and maritime innovation within a fully self-sufficient floating platform.

Designed to offer a new perspective on Mediterranean hospitality, guests arrive via private shuttle before stepping onto expansive decks surrounded by uninterrupted sea views. Unlike traditional beach clubs or coastal venues, Noma Island exists entirely at sea, creating a sense of escape that begins the moment visitors leave the mainland behind.

The experience is divided into two distinct offerings. During the day, guests can enjoy the Beach Club Experience, featuring sunbeds, cabanas, beach-club-bites, a full al a carte restaurant dining experience, signature cocktails and direct access to the surrounding Mediterranean waters. As the afternoon transitions into evening, the venue transforms into the Sunset Experience, offering a more relaxed atmosphere accompanied by panoramic sunset views.

Beyond the guest experience, Noma Island represents a significant investment in maritime engineering and innovation. The floating platform has been designed to operate as a fully self-sufficient maritime venue, managed by qualified maritime professionals and certified crew members.

Environmental responsibility has also played a central role in the project’s development. The platform incorporates low-emission marine technology, onboard water production systems and a strict zero-discharge policy to help protect the surrounding marine environment. All waste generated onboard is collected and transferred ashore through licensed operators.

The launch comes at a time when tourism trends are increasingly shifting towards unique, experience-led travel. Industry reports continue to show growing demand for destinations that offer authenticity, privacy and memorable experiences beyond traditional hospitality models.

Noma Island aims to meet this demand by creating a destination that combines the natural beauty of the Mediterranean with contemporary hospitality, all within a setting that feels entirely removed from everyday life.

As Malta continues to strengthen its reputation as a leading Mediterranean destination, the arrival of Noma Island introduces a concept that is not only new to the islands but also highly distinctive within the wider European tourism market.

For visitors seeking a different way to experience the sea this summer, Noma Island offers an opportunity to relax, unwind and escape – surrounded by nothing but open clear blue waters and the horizon.
