Betsson Group was on Thursday celebrating having won five awards at this year’s iteration of the prestigious EGR Marketing & Innovation Awards, held on Wednesday night.

The Stockholm-listed, Malta-headquartered operator triumphed at the event, as the company was recognised in the ‘Best native app’, ‘Innovation in mobile and tablet’, ‘Innovation in horse racing’, ‘Mobile marketing campaign’, and Social marketing campaign’ categories as best nominee.

Betsson describes the awards, usually presented at an in-person event in London but on Wednesday held virtually, as rewarding “the most innovative and creative operators and affiliates in the online gaming industry”.

Revealing the comments given by judges, Betsson states that its native app was described as having a “slick and ergonomic design with UI/UX in mind”.

“Great to see that the creators looked around for examples outside of their competition and the industry, and didn’t just concentrate around features available among main competitors”, said a judge.

For the innovation in mobile and tablet award, the judges cited the company’s new app’s App Store rating, stating that the company has more choices than others, but hasn’t “forgotten about personalisation”.

Betsson’s horse racing brand, Racebets, which won the gong for ‘Innovation in horse racing’, was described as an “excellent product, with more enhancements than last year”, with a judge predicting the product is “sure to be a significant player in Latam”.

In the Mobile marketing campaign category, Betsson’s win, via its Betsafe brand, was its second in two years.

“This is what it’s all about! Innovative outside-the-box thinking with outstanding results. Well done Betsafe”, said a judge.

The fifth award won by Betsson Group, Social marketing campaign, recognised in campaign “commercial success, originality and creativity, results, and the achievement of its core objectives”.

Betsson’s entry was described as “a reputable and philanthropic endeavour”, by one judge, with another stating: “It’s not just an example of Social Marketing, but a Socially Responsible campaign”.

Celebrating the award, Roderick Spiteri Schillig, Head of External Communications at Betsson Group commented: “We had teams following the awards virtually in Malta, Sweden, and Estonia and we celebrated together virtually.

“The comments that the judges gave really recognises the hard work and passion that my colleagues have”.

While Betsson brought home the largest number of awards, a number of other prominent companies also received acclaim on the night.

PointsBet was recognised for the best Affiliate marketing campaign, Sky Betting & Gaming as Brand of the year and for the best CRM campaign and Kindred Group won in both Casino innovation in responsible gambling and Sportsbook innovation in responsible gambling categories.

Amongst other winners, Casumo won the award for Casino marketing campaign, Novibet for Innovation in casino, Unikrn for Innovation in esports, oddschecker for Innovation in marketing campaign, PokerStars for Innovation in poker, and Gamesys for its Socially responsible marketing campaign.

The awards were judged by a variety of industry experts in a number of fields, and as part of EGR’s commitment to making the judging process transparent, the voting process was officiated by accountancy giant Deloitte.
