Recruiters in Malta’s thriving iGaming sector are currently facing a challenge filling all the vacancies as quickly as they arise, local industry sources have told iGamingCapital.mt. With the industry’s expansion, the supply of job opportunities is at times currently outpacing the available talent pool of locals and expats.

A quick look at LinkedIn alone reveals over 1,000 open positions at Malta-based iGaming companies, affiliate businesses, and firms servicing the industry. Roles span across various levels and specialisations, including Head of Product: Casino & Sports Betting, Partnership Managers, Head of Game Development, Content Site Managers, and Senior Financial Analysts.

This talent gap highlights both the resilience and the growing pains of Malta’s iGaming sector. While the country remains a global hub for gaming and betting firms, companies are increasingly competing to attract top talent in an evolving and highly specialised market.

Industry stakeholders are now focusing on strategies to bridge this gap, from refining recruitment efforts and enhancing employer branding to tapping more into international talent and upskilling local professionals. As the demand for expertise continues to rise, the challenge for recruiters is clear – how to ensure Malta remains an attractive and sustainable destination for iGaming professionals.

Another relatively new challenge for the local igaming industry is the fact that locally based companies in other industries have over the years been improving the conditions of their employees. Industry sources explained that whereas 3 to 5 years ago, the conditions of the igaming industry were significantly better, the gap between the conditions offered by other sectors in Malta and that of gaming has narrowed.
