Ukraine

Leading members of Malta’s video game development community have issued a statement decrying Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, offering their support for the people of Ukraine, who are “currently enduring unspeakable horrors and suffering.”

The statement was signed by Draw & Code, Play Magic, 4A Games, cView, Dorado Games, Metaverse ME, NARC, Flying Squirrel, VRTron, and Graewolv Games.

The companies explain: “As game developers, we are not used to involving ourselves in politics. However, we believe this hour requires us to set aside private interests and normal priorities.

“We must now stand united in the face of terror and aggression – individuals and companies alike.”

This proclamation is made all the more pertinent for the companies, considering the multinational makeup of their staff, and that some of them have Ukraine-based employees.

To these colleagues in Ukraine, the companies say their “thoughts and hearts” are with both those “fighting bravely in defence of their homes and families, as well as the thousands of victims suffering from this war, regardless of their nationality or the actions of their Governments.”

Issuing a plea to their Russia-based counterparts, the statement’s signatories encourage Russians to stand up to the aggression and to demand “the immediate end to this unjustified invasion.”

“Stop Putin and his cronies before it is too late,” they conclude.

GamingMalta, a non-profit organisation set up to support the local iGaming, game development and esports sectors, informed iGamingCapital.mt that it has been liaising with the various studios and the relevant authorities to facilitate bringing Ukrainian gaming personnel and their families to Malta.
