Two Maltese simulated racing (sim racing) drivers will have the opportunity to compete in the Sim Racing World Cup qualifiers, being held in Monaco later this year.
To compete, local drivers must enter the Malta National Online Qualifiers, to be held on 14th July. It is being organised by World Pro Racing in collaboration with the Malta Esports Association.
The top two Maltese drivers will be selected to compete during the European regional international qualifiers, which Malta’s event forms part of. If the drivers qualify, they will be heading to Monaco to compete in the World Finals, representing the Maltese National Esports Team on October 23rd.
The qualifiers race is eligible to Maltese citizens only, aged 16 and over. The participants need to own an Assetto Corsa, including having a steering wheel and pedals, while registration is free.
Depending on the number of participants, World Pro Racing said it may be required to organise multiple races, with a final race to decide who will qualify for the World Finals.
Interested drivers will have the selection of Tatuus FA01 as a vehicle and the Red Bull Ring as a track.
The event will be broadcasted live on TVM Sport, ESTV, Motorsport.tv and World Pro Racing’s streaming platforms.
Michele Magro, President of the Malta Esports Association said in a statement: ”The Malta Esports Association remains committed to create opportunities for Maltese esports enthusiasts to make it to the big stage in esports, this time in the sim racing genre.
“Thanks to our membership with the International Esports Federation, we are able to give the Maltese champions the opportunity to attempt to qualify towards the Sim Racing World Cup, which is being held in Monaco, thanks to the Monaco Esports Federation.
