Respected local hospitality leader Wendy McKay has been appointed as office and events manager at iGaming seed fund and early stage accelerator HappyHour.io, she announced on Wednesday.
Taking to social media, Ms McKay said she was “beyond thrilled” to announce the move, while thanking the firm’s head of people and strategy Emily Micallef for her support during the recruitment process as well as the warm welcome given.
She also wrote she looked forward to working alongside Ms Micallef, office manager Farah Fawzi, financial controller Wayne Formosa, and meeting the rest of the team.
In comments to iGamingCapital.mt discussing the move, she explained that while she has never worked directly in the iGaming industry before, her previous roles in the hospitality industry did see her deal with members of the industry, and she has always found it “fascinating.”
Ultimately, however, despite the change in industry, Ms McKay shares that her new role will see her continue to do the things she loves the most, namely organising events and accommodation, as well as coordinating various employee incentives.
To do so, she will bring to bear her impressive multi-decade experience in the hospitality industry which started with a 20 year stint at a leading five star hotel and continued when she was appointed cluster director corporate sales at InterContinental Malta.
HappyHour.io is a new iGaming accelerator, providing capital, technology, network and access to its partners, to ensure the companies and products it invests in will have an “outstanding launch and durable future.”
It was founded in 2021 and is led by former Gaming Innovation Group (GiG) CEO Robin Reed.
