Web3-native iGaming platform provider DeGaming has appointed Édi Varela as Commercial Director as it seeks to expand its operator partnerships and strengthen its commercial presence following a recent rebrand.
Mr Varela brings more than a decade of experience across the iGaming and payments industries, having held senior positions at Kaizen Gaming, Gamingtec and Sportingtech.
He joins DeGaming from OpenTag, an iGaming and sports betting platform provider, where he served as Head of Sales.
His appointment comes as DeGaming looks to accelerate the adoption of its technology and expand its reach among Web3 gaming businesses and established Web2 operators exploring blockchain-based solutions.
The company has positioned transparency as a central component of its offering, introducing its proprietary Glass Vault technology as an alternative to traditional closed-system gaming infrastructure.
According to DeGaming, Glass Vault provides operators with real-time visibility into platform operations and proof of funds, allowing them to verify aspects of the systems supporting their businesses.
The company also offers Bankroll-as-a-Service, a solution designed to provide operators with scalable liquidity and payout backing, with transactions and financial information visible on-chain.
Together, the two products form part of DeGaming's strategy to address transparency and financing challenges within the iGaming industry.
Commenting on the appointment, DeGaming CEO Ulle Skottling said Varela was joining the company at an important stage of its development.
"Édi joins us at an important turning point in DeGaming’s development. We have built the technology and established our clear position in the market. The next step is to accelerate adoption and bring our product to more operators."
He added that Mr Varela's experience across different areas of the industry would support the company's efforts to establish new commercial relationships.
"Édi’s experience across many areas of the industry gives him a uniquely broad perspective on what our customers need. He understands the commercial realities but also sees where the market is heading."
For his part, Mr Varela said the company's focus on transparency addresses a longstanding challenge within the sector.
