Yggdrasil has appointed Mark McGinley as its chief gaming officer.

Mark McGinley brings over 25 years of B2C & B2B gaming experience and know-how to Yggdrasil, with a track record in product, studio and game development. Yggdrasil describes him as “highly business and commercially driven” and “has a deep knowledge and understanding of the current competitive iGaming marketplace”.

Mr McGinley most recently held the role as CEO of FunFair Games. Prior to that he was the director of game studios at Entain and program director at RNG Foundry, where he played a key role in empowering independent studios to create innovative, engaging and high-quality gaming content to be distributed through the market-leading Games Global Platform. At RNG Foundry Mr McGinley was also part of the senior management team. Prior to RNG Foundry, McGinley held senior level Game Studio roles at Casumo and Odobo.

In conjunction with introducing a new chief gaming officer, Yggdrasil is also consolidating its Product & Programs and Studio verticals into one unit called Gaming.

This change “will increase company transparency, streamline processes and offer numerous operational benefits”.

Some key areas of expected enhancements are improved product roadmap quality and development process assurance, more agile content delivery, increased cross-company knowledge sharing, and a laser-focus on player and operator needs.

Björn Krantz, CEO of Yggdrasil, said: “It is perfect timing for Mark to join and head up our new Gaming unit at Yggdrasil, which will further strengthen our existing innovative and premium Global Roadmap Developments, as well as expand on the strategic product differentiation in tight collaboration with major industry operator partners. I welcome Mark to Yggdrasil and to our Senior Management team, and very much look forward to working together to take our global growth ambitions to the next level.”

On his part, Mr McGinley said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be joining such an ambitious and forward- thinking business as Yggdrasil. I see huge potential ahead of us and I’m very confident we can move the business forward to compete at the highest level in the iGaming space. I’m truly excited about my new position and to be part of the exciting growth journey Yggdrasil embarked on 10 years ago.”
